ll of these bats, the Jamaican flower bat, Honduran white bats, Tent-making bats and the California leaf-nosed bat are endangered and in need of protection and are all vulnerable due to habitat destruction and loss so I wanted to feature them in this artwork. Each of these bats has a nose leaf so I wanted to play with the leaf shape in the background, bringing them all together. I really wanted to celebrate bats and show these amazing animals in a positive and fun light.

Prints of this painting have been sold in aid of animal rescues and charities at Vegfest London.

I chose to paint the Harpy Eagle for the Oracle Card Deck as although they aren't as well known as some other eagle species, to me they are both majestic and almost otherworldly looking birds. Eagle's are associated with courage and strength and I hoped to portray them in this piece to fit this symbolism. The reality is that Harpy Eagles are vulnerable globally and listed as critically endangered in most Central American countries. As Habitat destruction is threatening this species, I wanted to highlight them in my work.
On a personal note, I really liked how the Harpy Eagle looks almost like a mythical being such as a griffin!

Made for the vegan art group I am with artofcompassionproject who were at this years VegfestUK ^_^ Funds were raised to be split equally between charities.

This painting is inspired by Juniper, one of the many rescued baby goats at goatsofanarchy a wonderful sanctuary for farmed animals with disabilities. These vulnerable animals are at the mercy of humans, and this amazing rescue has saved the lives of so many animals and given comfort to the ones who sadly could not be saved. This small tribute is to show that not all vulnerable animals are endangered in the wild but that many are still suffering massively at the hands of humans.

This painting was made for The Art Of Compassion charity exhibition I took part in - At Home In Nature. I will be making some prints in future and will hopefully have some on my etsy shop - Mercurialfoxart.

Acrylic gouache painting of an English Bull Terrier dog sitting contemplatively with abstract plants growing over her back as a metaphor for healing. Bull terriers are so mistreated and misunderstood and as a result are more than often abused. This painting is reflecting the recovery process the lucky ones have to go through and hopefully go on to live happy peaceful lives with their adopted human family. I'd love to rescue dogs myself but I am not well enough to look after them, though I still look through the rescue adoption pages which is what inspired this picture.

Batty

I started drawing 'Batty' as I wanted to have a fun character I could play with lots of different expressions and put in different situations. I had some suggestions from followers such as 'Cheshire Grin.'
